Colors and Healing

What’s your favorite color? Or favorite colors? Did it change over time? Or depends on when, where and what? Colors have a deep effect on our psyche and they are very useful in communications. I know when I want to disappear into a crowd I wouldn’t be wearing my orange raincoat, or when I want to look attractive I wouldn’t be wearing brown swimsuit to post on Instagram- brown is statistically perceived as the most unattractive color on a woman! I’m sure everyone has many experiences and stories concerning colors, I would list a few the conventional meanings and interpretations of colors in healing

Red

When we think of healing colors, does red come to your mind first? It’s not the case for me! But I do think of the ultra- red ray light the physical therapy used for my back in the past!
Red does reminds the psyche of warmth, energy and stimulation, so it’s healing when you need more energy, facing fatigue, colds, passivity. Red stimulates heart rate and blood circulation, providing vital energy to all organs and senses.

Red is associated with passionate love, sex, great energy, impulse, action and stimulation, confidence and invites trust ( remember the proverbial red tie for politicians?!) and aggression, courage, strength and power, adventure, danger, warnings, revolt and revolution.

Orange

Orange is warm, cheering, it bestows a freeing sensation on the mind, relieving repressions. Orange make us think of new possibilities and options in life, invites creative thinking.

Orange is the color of the sun and the fire, it’s soothing and make us breathe more evenly, thus can help relieve muscle cramps.

Orange can represent good luck, charm, kindness, optimism, success, abundance, prosperity, and celebration.

Yellow

Yellow makes you feel more resilient and awakens mental inspiration, soothes your nerves ! It’s a great color to look at when you feel nervous! Yellow stimulates the solar plexus, or psychic center. It can be used for psychic fatigue.

Green

Green is the dominant color of Nature. It’s the color of spring, hope and promise! Green is the universal healing color, stimulates psychological and emotional harmony and hormones balance.

Green represents hope, fertility, growth, rejuvenation, recovering, healing, harvest and abundance, prosperity, harmony, balance, peace, peace, rest, comfort, calmness and harmony.

Blue

Blue is the color of the sky, it gives us a fresh, open and clean sensation in general. Dr. Edwin Babbitt, in his classic, "The Principles of Light and Color," states that "The Blue Ray is one of the greatest antiseptics in the world."

Blue makes you cool down, regulates blood pressure, relieves the bursting headaches, calms strong emotions like anger, aggression or hysteria and invites tranquility and calm. Blue is a good anti-stress color. It’s not associated with food color in general and it doesn’t open your appetite!

Blue helps you speak more fluently and thus favors communication calms the throat. The throat chakra is often referenced as the "power center" and "the greatest center in the body" because it is the primary center of expression and communication.

Blue represents peace and rest, so it’s often used to paint the walls of a hospital, etc. Blue reminds us of order, logic and rational thinking. Blue is in general a “serious” color, you wouldn’t paint the walls of a night club with it!

White

White is the perfect color because it is all colors! Somehow it’s also the color of monotony and death. Philosophically speaking, it’s like we were born whole and after death, we return to this wholeness…It’s life that breaks us into pieces, into different colors… However" White light raises the vibration of one's consciousness and the body, bringing harmony in all aspects of one's life. Directing white into to a part of the body that needs healing is one of the fastest ways to bring about healing.
White invokes purification and cleaning, (inner) peace, aura-healing, truth seeking, consecration, spiritual enlightenment, protection against negativity. It represents innocence, purity, virginity, cleanliness, freshness, simplicity, nothingness, oneness and completion, truth. In Asia white is the color of death and mourning.

Pink

The last color I’d like to talk about is PINK, which is one of my favorite colors. Pink is generally a happy color, soft and sweet, it heals grief and sadness, rejuvenating since most people like to dress little girls in pink, it contact us to beauty and innocence, invokes tender love and care.

Pink represents caring, nurturing, youth, peace, friendship, femininity, emotional love, emotional healing. Pink is often considered as a feminine color, it symbolizes softness, sweetness, innocence and kindness.

Grey and Black
Grey represents neutrality, indifference and ambiguity.  It’s the color of non-decision and resignation from a situation, it’s to be sit on the wall, keeping the possibility to fade into black or white. It’s generally not considered to be a very positive color. Grey colored clothes for men do convey a calm and knowledgeable personality, it’s the best shirt color for experts and scientists.

Black is the color of the earth. It symbolizes seriousness, darkness, depression, death, mourning, mystery, etc. It’s the color of the night. It absorbs all and lets nothing out. Black is a powerful color, the dark kind of power though. Black is the most recommended color to look thinner.
